Welcome to Misma Counselling and Psychotherapy Services
To A Healed Heart
My name is Misma, and I am an accredited, experienced and professional counsellor/psychotherapist based in Exeter and offering online services. At Misma Counselling Service, I provide a safe and supportive space for individuals and couples, guiding them through their personal journeys toward mental and emotional wellness.
In addition to therapy, I offer clinical supervision to counsellors, psychotherapists, and trainees. My supervision provides a reflective space where practitioners can explore their clinical practice, enhance their skills, and ensure ethical, effective therapeutic work. With a strong background in the psychodynamic/psychoanalytic approach and experience in various therapeutic modalities, I specialise in supporting practitioners through complex cases, offering insights into client dynamics, and fostering both personal and professional growth.
I am passionate about creating a collaborative supervisory relationship, where supervision is tailored to meet the unique needs of each practitioner. Supervision with me is a place for learning, support, and continuous development.

About Misma
I am a dedicated and experienced counsellor/psychotherapist with over 10 years of clinical experience. I work throughout Exeter, offering compassionate, professional support to help individuals make meaningful changes in their lives. My decision to become a psychotherapist was shaped by my own life experiences and challenges, which have deeply influenced my approach to therapy. I founded Misma Counselling & Psychotherapy Services as a private practice to create a safe and supportive space for personal growth. Throughout my career, I have worked in a range of settings, including the NHS, charitable organisations, and private practice, helping people from diverse backgrounds navigate their emotional and mental health journeys.

Anger and Trauma:
A Psychodynamic Exploration of Pain, Defence, and Healing
Many people feel angry after experiencing trauma. Anger can serve as a powerful, adaptive response, helping individuals cope with life stress, maintain a sense of control, and harbour the energy to face danger or trouble. At the same time, this same anger can create significant challenges, particularly when it becomes persistent, overwhelming, or disconnected from its original source.

Psychotherapy - towards change
Unresolved experiences from our past can quietly shape our present emotions, behaviours, and relationships. In therapy, exploring and understanding these influences is key to addressing why past difficulties may continue to affect how we feel today.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy helps you explore what may be repressed or unconscious in how you feel, behave, and relate to others. At the core of this approach is the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship.
In a respectful, thoughtful, and non-judgmental environment, you are free to explore your inner world, make sense of your difficulties, and uncover the meaning behind your suffering. You will be supported on your journey of self-discovery, self-awareness, personal growth, and change.
