Counselling
The goal of counselling is to help clients better understand themselves, their relationships, and their situations, and to develop strategies for coping with challenges and making positive changes in their lives.
Counselling typically centres on a specific concern or issue that has prompted you to seek support at this particular in time. It's a common experience for all of us to face moments in our lives when we feel overwhelmed ur unable to cope.
The emotions can have a significant impact on various aspect of your life, such as your relationship, academic pursuits, work and/or personal wellbeing, potentially leading you to feel incapable of leading a successful and fulfilling life. At such junctures, it may be beneficial to consider seeking support from a counsellor.
Emotions like anger, grief, anxiety, loneliness, and sadness can be profoundly distressing and lead to prolonged suffering. If you've been carrying these feelings for an extended period, counselling provides a space for you to confront and process these challenging emotions.
I will help you get to the point of the matter, to understand what is at the root of the concern and help you to work toward resolving these difficulties.
What happens in a counselling session?
Counselling distinguishes itself from giving direct advice and may feel distinct from other forms of support. It's a collaborative process wherein the counsellor guides you in exploring and comprehending your challenges, ultimately empowering you to develop your own coping mechanisms and resources.
We can work together to decide the number of sessions that is appropriate to you and your circumstances. I usually suggest a minimum commitment of 8 weekly sessions, where possible.
