If you have decided that counselling or psychotherapy is for you, or if you would like to work with me and you are unsure if I can help with your problem, please contact me. My details can be found on Home
The next step will be either book an appointment and I will asses you or if I am unable to help, I will signpost you to another professional or organisation who works with that particular issue. Please also see : Useful Links
What happens at the assessment?
It is your opportunity to tell me what has prompted you to seek counselling now, and to ask me questions about our work together. It is your opportunity as well to find out whether you feel comfortable working with me.
It is my opportunity to gather some general information and assess risk. It is my opportunity to explain how I work and to explain the client about contract including: confidentiality, boundaries of our work, fees, frequency of sessions, cancellation policy, holidays, breaks and ending.
It is also an opportunity for us to to think about how we would work together, whether we undertake short-term or open ended counselling. What you would like to gain from the counselling and how you hope to feel at the end of our work. For details on this, please see Short and Long Term Counselling for Individuals
If at any time it doesn't feel right for you, or you decide it's not right time for you or if you feel it's more appropriate for you to see another counsellor or specialist, we will agree to not proceed further.
